Crowdfunding for Amaravati

Andhra Pradesh government is mulling the idea of crowd-funding for the construction of the upcoming capital of Andhra Pradesh, Amaravati. The government is mooting this idea to meet some expenditure which is very difficult for the cash strapped state as well as bring a sense of ownership of the capital to all the people in the state.

The government is planning to have a digital brick on which people can have their names engraved and make a contribution to the new capital from any place in the world. If all the current plans materialize, this initiative may be launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he comes down to Amaravati for laying the foundation stone of the capital.

Over one lakh people are likely to attend the event. The state government is giving special emphasis to the farmers who gave their lands for the capital. There will be a performance called ‘Raithu Vandanam’, thanking farmers for their contribution to the capital. The government had pooled in more than 30000 acres for the capital through its land pooling policy.
