BO Madness: 7 Films, 7 Gambles; Day 1 Predictions

June witnessed the release of multiple films, starting from Housefull 4 to Sitaare Zameen Par. While the hype around these films continue, Bollywood gears up for a series of theatrical releases in July too!

It’s almost like watching a fusion of horror dramas, devotional actioners, and romantic sagas! Here’s a look at what’s releasing, and how they’re expected to perform on Day 1 at the Indian box office.

1. Maa – Rs 5 Crore

Kajol returns with Maa, a horror drama linked to the Shaitaan universe. With strong emotional beats and a gripping trailer, this women-led film could open around Rs 5 crore, given the genre and competition.

2. Kannappa (Hindi) – Rs 60 Lakhs

Despite a massive cast including Akshay Kumar, Prabhas, and Mohanlal, the Hindi version of this Telugu devotional-actioner is expected to open modestly at ₹60 lakh. This is mostly due to low buzz in the Hindi belt.

3. Nikita Roy – Rs 25 Lakhs

Sonakshi Sinha’s comeback film lacks traction and awareness. So, it may start slow with just ₹20–25 lakh on Day 1. Many also suggest that an OTT release would have been better for this film.

4. Metro… In Dino – Rs 4 Crore

One of the most awaited films of the year, starring Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, and others, is tracking around Rs 4 crore. However, multiplex word-of-mouth could make or break it in no time!

5. Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan – Rs 2 Crore

Bollywood is gearing up again for this romantic drama, starring Vikrant Massey and debutant Shanaya Kapoor. As of now, this upcoming film has generated decent buzz. Hence, a Rs 2 crore start looks likely, especially in metros.

6. Maalik – Rs 3 Crore

Despite a promising teaser and Rajlkummar’s stellar performance, the buzz for Maalik has slowed. With competition from AKG and Superman, this Rajkummar Rao-Manushi Chhillar starrer may open at Rs 3 crore.

7. Saiyaara – Rs 4 Crore

Mohit Suri’s romantic launchpad for Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda carries a strong youth appeal. It’s expected to start at around Rs 4 crore, mostly because of the musical angle.
