Rapist-murderer of Telugu girl gets death sentence

The case of rape and murder of Telugu girl, Esther Anuya last year created a sensation back then. The 23 year old techie hails from Machilipatnam and works for TCS in Mumbai. She had returned to the city after visiting her family. Arriving at the Lokmanya Tilak Terminus in suburban Kurla, she met Chandrabhan Sanap, who offered to drop her home in Andheri for Rs 300.

She was raped and murdered. Her body was recovered after many days of search and CCTV footage nailed Chandrabhan. A special women’s court in Mumbai on Friday sentenced the accused to death. The court termed it as “a case of cold-blooded pre-planned murder” with a motive “to satisfy unbridled lust.”

The convicted man reportedly broke down outside court after hearing the sentence claiming himself innocent. Anuhya parents says they are happy about the Mumbai court judgement of giving death sentence to the convict while breaking in to tears.
