Deepika Finally EXPLODES: Targets Male Superstars

Deepika Padukone has finally spoken about the rumours around her exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit and the sequel to Kalki 2898 AD. Reports claimed she wanted fixed 8-hour work shifts, leading to her stepping away.

Speaking with CNBC TV18, Deepika said, “If being a woman makes me seem pushy or whatever, then so be it. I don’t want to take names, but many male superstars have been working 8-hour days for years, and no one talks about it.” She pointed out that several male actors work only Monday to Friday and avoid weekend shoots, yet face no criticism.

On World Mental Health Day, while celebrating 10 years of her foundation Live Love Laugh, she spoke about the need for structure in Bollywood. “We are a very disorganized industry. It’s time we brought in some systems,” she said firmly.

Deepika also highlighted the quiet progress among women in film. “I know many women, including new mothers, who work 8-hour shifts. But that never makes headlines,” she said.

When asked if demanding fair work conditions comes at a cost, she replied, “I’ve done this at many levels. It’s not new. I’ve always fought my battles silently. Sometimes they become public, but I choose dignity and silence.”

With this, Deepika not only cleared the air on Kalki 2898 AD but also reignited debate about gender equality and fair workplace practices in Bollywood.
