Deepika Falls Prey To OTT Audience Trolling

Directed by Siddharth Anand, “Fighter” features an ensemble cast including Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, and Anil Kapoor in significant roles. While it garnered average success at the box office, its recent release on Netflix has sparked decent interest.

The film has been praised by OTT audiences for its technical aspects, gripping action sequences, and Hrithik’s compelling performance.

However, criticism has surfaced regarding its excessive jingoism, cringe-worthy dialogues, and abundance of songs, spoiling the overall viewing experience.

In particular, Deepika Padukone has faced backlash for her portrayal, with many deeming her performance as overly cheesy.

The romantic chemistry between her and Hrithik comes across as forced and out of sync with the film’s tone, leading to a sense of disconnect for viewers. Furthermore, her subplot involving her family has been criticized for its lack of logic and entertainment value.

Despite her proven acting abilities in films such as “Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani,” “Cocktail,” “Bajirao Mastani,” and “Padmaavat,” Deepika’s role and performance in “Fighter” turned out to be a distraction rather than an asset to the narrative.

However, Deepika’s upcoming project, “Kalki 2898 AD,” alongside Prabhas, holds promise. Directed by Nag Ashwin, it remains to be seen how her character will be developed and presented on the big screen, potentially offering a chance for redemption from her performance in Fighter.
