Delhi High Court Challenges Unauthorized Nagarjuna-Branded Merchandise

The Delhi High Court is cracking down on people selling Akkineni Nagarjuna’s brand without permission. During a hearing on May 12, 2026, the court questioned a trader who was selling T-shirts with the actor’s name and image. Even though the seller claimed they were part of a marketing deal for the movie The Ghost, the judge pointed out that they didn’t have a direct contract with Nagarjuna or the film’s producers.

This case is all about protecting a star’s “personality rights.” Back in September 2025, the court already told people to stop using Nagarjuna’s face, voice, or name for profit without his okay. This lawsuit doesn’t just cover T-shirts; it’s also fighting against deepfakes and morphed photos that hurt the actor’s reputation. The court basically told the merchant that a social media post isn’t enough proof of a legal deal.

The seller now has one week to dig up real emails and documents to prove they have the right to sell these shirts. The next big hearing is set for August 3, 2026. This case is a big deal because it shows that in 2026, you can’t just slap a superstar’s face on a product and expect to get away with it.

M9 Conclusion: Nagarjuna is making it clear that his brand isn’t up for grabs. The Delhi High Court’s tough questions show that “grey market” sellers can’t hide behind vague excuses anymore. If you want to sell a superstar’s brand, you better have the paperwork to back it up.
