Sequels have become a major trend in the film industry in recent years. However, only a few of them have achieved massive success. Films starring actors like Prabhas and Allu Arjun have dominated this space with strong box office numbers.
Some of the biggest sequel successes include Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, Stree 2, K.G.F. Chapter 2 and Pushpa 2 The Rule. These films benefited greatly from the popularity of their earlier parts. Positive audience response to the first films helped create huge anticipation for the sequels.
Now similar expectations are building around Dhurandhar 2. The first film performed strongly at the box office and reportedly collected more than Rs. 800 crores in India during its theatrical run.
Popular exhibitor Raj Bansal recently shared his thoughts about the advance booking response. According to him, the demand for tickets has been unusually strong. Fans are reportedly purchasing paid preview tickets priced close to Rs. 2,000.
Early trade reports suggest that paid preview collections alone may reach around Rs. 60 crores. Industry watchers believe the total could grow even further once regular screenings begin on March 19.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh also spoke about the importance of a successful first film for any sequel. He explained that television premieres often bring new viewers who may not have watched the original film in theatres.
According to Taran Adarsh, a gap between two films in a franchise can help build curiosity among audiences. He added that the second film must carry the legacy forward with a stronger story and engaging promotions.
However, social media users pointed out that not every sequel succeeds even when it continues the same storyline. Some viewers mentioned films like De De Pyaar De 2 and Indian 2 while discussing the risks involved in sequels.
With one antagonist already eliminated in the first film, fans are now curious about the next chapter. Many are waiting to see how Ranveer Singh’s character will defeat the remaining enemies when Dhurandhar 2 arrives in theatres.
