Trade circles are closely tracking the upcoming box office clash between Dhurandhar 2 and Toxic. The simultaneous release has sparked debate over whether the clash will hurt either film’s theatrical prospects.
Sharing his view with Variety India, Vishek Chauhan said the clash was unnecessary. He felt such moves usually hurt single-screen theatres the most.
Vishek dismissed the belief that Toxic would damage the North India business of Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2. While acknowledging that Yash is a major star, he said curiosity around how Dhurandhar’s story concludes remains stronger.
He pointed out that single-screen theatres are often forced to pick one film over the other. The situation becomes worse in towns that operate only one cinema, leading to unavoidable losses.
According to Vishek, a minimum gap of two weeks is ideal for films of this scale. He stated that releasing them together helps no one and only ends up satisfying individual egos.
Many online users echoed this sentiment. Several felt that Yash could have opted for a solo release, especially considering his strong recognition in North India after his last two films.
Some fans also expressed concern that Toxic may not get enough space to shine among Hindi audiences. A few advised Yash to be more strategic with release planning in the future.
While a section believes the tables could still turn, most trade experts disagree. They feel Dhurandhar 2 is better positioned to dominate North India theatres. Whether this clash leads to extraordinary box office numbers remains to be seen.
