Dil Raju Explains How They Landed A Dud for NTR

As a producer Dil Raju has 80% success rate with 18 super hits and blockbusters to his credit. There are six films which didn’t do well and live up to the expectations. One among them was NTR’s ‘Ramayya Vastavayya’ directed by Harish Shankar. In a recent interview, Dil Raju explained the reasons.

They had finalized a story for NTR and before they began the shooting, Prabhas’ ‘Rebel’ came to theatres. That film was based on father’s sentiment. The story Harish Shankar got ready for NTR too had a similar concept. Fearing the comparisons and criticism from critics, Dil Raju asked the director to come up with another story for ‘Ramayya Vastavayya’.

Dil Raju accepts that it was a big mistake. He should have taken a bold step keeping his reservations aside regarding the similarities that would crop up after the release. The hastily prepared new story didn’t click and director Harish Shankar faced a lot of flak for delivering a flop for NTR. ‘Rebel’ wasn’t a superhit anyway.
