Disaster Repeat in 2025: Prabhas & PK to Blame?

In the past, the release of big-budget films was often carefully planned around key festival seasons, like Sankranthi, Summer, and Dussehra, when the audience was most likely to turn out in large numbers. These seasons were considered the perfect time for big heroes and high-budget movies to shine.

However, things seem to have changed in recent years. Last year in 2024, the whole summer season’s potential was wasted with no big releases. It turned out to be a huge disaster season.

Many had high hopes for Summer 2025, expecting major releases from top stars.

Prabhas and Maruthi’s film The Raja Saab was supposed to kick off the season, with promises of a grand summer release. However, the film’s release has been delayed multiple times, leaving fans and the industry waiting for a solid update.

Similarly, Pawan Kalyan’s Hari Hara Veera Mallu, which had been pegged as a key summer release, has also been pushed back. There were discussions about a March or April release, but it seems unlikely that the film will make it to theaters in time for Summer.

As of now, Vishwambhara seems to be the only big film for summer, but its potential also looks doubtful after the disastrous response to the teaser.

This delay of big films has left a gap in the market, and while smaller films like Hit 3, Kannappa, Jack, Robinhood, and Mass Jathara are set to release, the absence of major stars during this crucial season is being felt.

It’s a missed opportunity for the big heroes, as the summer season has always been a time when their films could light up the box office, dominating the screen.

While the smaller films might find their audience, it’s clear that the real magic happens when a star-driven, big-budget film takes center stage.

The question remains—who will make the most of this Summer, and will the absence of the major releases affect the overall box office numbers for the season?
