Does box-office success decide the fate of an actress?

We were under the assumption that box-office returns mattered the most for heroes, but it looks it matters too for actresses, who are now being picked on the basis of hits in their career. One of the recent examples is Shruti Haasan and Tamannah Bhatia.

Thanks to the back-to-back successful films of Shruti, she is now being signed by almost every other top filmmaker, while Tamannah, who is not having a good time with lady and is having her share of flops, is being turned down by every filmmaker. All of a sudden, Shruti is being considered a lucky charm of Telugu industry.

This is not something and has continued for many years. There was a time when Shriya Saran was busy shooting for four to five Telugu projects simultaneously.
