Dostana 2 has remained under constant scrutiny since its inception. The film has faced multiple hurdles, adding pressure on Karan Johar. Earlier, creative differences with Kartik Aaryan had delayed the project.
Although issues between Karan Johar and Kartik Aaryan were reportedly resolved, new problems have surfaced. The casting process has hit a roadblock. Finalising the female lead has emerged as the biggest challenge for the makers.
The original Dostana still holds a special place among audiences. Performances by Priyanka Chopra, Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham remain fresh in fans’ memories. This has increased expectations for the sequel.
There is also pressure on the film to handle its humour carefully. Many viewers hope the sequel avoids homophobic undertones. Fans expect a more sensitive portrayal of queer characters this time.
However, the makers are struggling to lock the female lead. Several actresses have reportedly been approached. Some have declined due to role concerns, while others cited scheduling conflicts.
The latest reported rejection has come from Jahnvi Kapoor. This has triggered widespread discussion online. Some netizens believe Kartik Aaryan’s recent teen-girl dating scandal may have made actresses uncomfortable working with him.
Social media discussions suggest that both Kartik and Karan need strong PR management to control the damage. There is also speculation that Jahnvi Kapoor may now be on Karan Johar’s red list. Some users even fear this could impact her career, though no official confirmation exists.
