NTR’s Dragon Lags Behind: Spirit, Varanasi, Raaka Ahead?

The much-hyped Jr. NTR’s Dragon, directed by Prashanth Neel, was announced almost three years ago, and even after being in production for more than a year and a half, a large portion of the shoot is still pending. It was earlier expected to release in June 2026, but that is clearly not happening anymore.

Reports say that not even 40% of the shoot is completed so far. That means nearly 60% is still left, which is a huge amount considering how long the film has already been in progress. The main reason seems to be Prashanth Neel’s working style. He is known for taking extra time to perfect every scene, especially action sequences, which are being shot on a very large scale and taking many days to complete.

Because of this slow pace, the release is now completely uncertain. Earlier, June 25, 2026, was announced, but now even a 2027 Sankranthi release looks difficult. In fact, even Summer 2027 is not looking easy at this point. As per current talk, the film might only release in the second half of 2027, possibly after other big films like Spirit, Varanasi, and Raaka complete their run and their hype has faded down.

This is disappointing news for fans. After Devara, which did decent business but faced trolling later, and War 2, which turned out to be even more embarrassing, fans are waiting for a strong comeback from Jr. NTR. Dragon was expected to be that film, but now the wait is getting longer and longer.

There is also another side to this. While delays frustrate fans, they also increase expectations. When a film takes this much time, people expect something extraordinary. If the final product does not match that level, the backlash can be even stronger.

There are also some genuine doubts here. Is the delay only because of perfection, or are there planning issues as well? Completing just 40% in such a long time does raise questions. Are res-shoots happening wasting more time Also, with so many big films lined up, delaying too much could affect its market and hype.

In simple terms, Dragon makers are clearly focusing on quality, but the slow progress is testing fans’ patience. Now, everything depends on whether the film can actually deliver something worth this long wait.
