Eesha OTT Verdict: Theatrical Audience Got Fooled?

As usual, this week also brought a wave of new movies and web series on OTT platforms. However, among all the releases, one film grabbed attention for a different reason. That film is Eesha. During its theatrical release last year, the movie managed to create some buzz and even earned a “hit” tag in certain circles.

Now, without much noise, the film has started streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Interestingly, the film arrived on OTT after an eight-week theatrical window. In today’s Telugu cinema market, that gap is considered rare because even bigger films like The Raja Saab premiered on OTT within a month of their theatrical release.

But the response on OTT for Eesha has been largely negative.

Many viewers took to social media and openly slammed the film. The biggest complaint is that it is not scary at all. People say it lacks genuine horror moments and feels slow and boring. One viewer called the climax atrocious and described the film as a complete waste of time and money. Another said they struggled to stay awake and questioned how the script was even approved.

Before release, the makers promoted Eesha as a terrifying horror film. They even released a warning video claiming people with weak hearts should avoid watching it in theatres. The campaign promised intense jump scares and shocking twists.

Now, many viewers feel that the marketing was exaggerated and misleading. Some believe the theatrical numbers were driven mainly by aggressive promotion and fake hype created by the makers rather than strong content. OTT audiences, however, have given their verdict. They are calling it a cash grab attempt with weak writing, flat drama, and irritating characters.

In short, the hype was loud. The content was not.
