Observations: The ticket prices hike seem to be a double edged sword. The hike is proving to be a boon for hit movies and a bane for flop films. With the hike, Attarintiki Daredi managed to cross the record of Magadheera under 4 weeks. The movie reportedly benefited hugely from the hike with the shares in all the territories increased. But the case is all different for movies like Ramayya Vasthavayya and Bhai which failed to live up to their promise. Audience are shunning from the theaters due to the high rates and as a result, occupancy is decreasing just after the first weekend.
Remedy: The flexible ticket pricing system is the need of hour. Government should fix an upper and lower limit of ticket prices and allow the distributor to decide the prices.
