Filmmaker N. Shankar joins Oscar commitee

Telangana filmmaker N. Shankar will one of the 15-member Oscar committee formed by Film Federation of India to screen and select a film from India to be considered for the best foreign film award category at Oscars.

The committee will start seeing all the nominated films from Sep 15 onwards. One wonders how did Shankar made it to the core committee when there are so many senior filmmakers in the industry. One of the reasons could be that he belongs to Telangana, and the government didn’t want to create any problems.

Two Telugu films Midhunam and Sri Jagadguru Aadi Shankara are believed to be nominated for the special screening. It is also believed that Eega might join the race.
