Finally, An Indication About When Cinemas Will Open

After Four Phases of Lockdown, Central Government finally moved on to Unlock. The Unlock will happen in three phases and in the first phase, Religious Places, Hotels, Restaurants, Hospitality Services and Shopping Malls will be allowed from June 8th.

The second phase will take a decision about educational institutions post consultations in July. The last phase will be the opening of theaters, gyms, swimming pools, bars, assembly halls, etc. The central government has given a timeline for the second phase but not the third phase.

That means opening the cinemas will be the last priority for the Government as of now. Given that the second phase will happen in July, we can assume that the cinemas may open only in August. The shootings will begin from June and if the cases come down, theaters opening in August will be the best option for the industry as well.

If at all that happens, it will be interesting to see if any biggie will release for the Independence Day Weekend this year.
