GPS: Epic Sound But No Epic Songs!

So the album of Nandamuri Balakrishna’s prestigious 100th movie Gautamiputra Satakarni is out. It was released yesterday in a grand way and after giving a lot of listens, here is what we think of it.

First of all let’s begin by saying that it’s very difficult to get audio for a film like this right. That has been possible for one few film makers. Also, none of the albums of director Krish have been big success before the release of the film. Few had a sensational song that hyped the movie before release but by large his albums contain situational songs.

Gautamiputra Satakarni is no different than a typical Krish album. He has got the ‘epic’ sound of the album right. But not even one song as a whole fall into that category. Even the melody song is passable. All of these songs may work in the actual movie and take it forward beautifully but as a standalone album, it is disappointing. Now, everything is up to the content and its handling by director Krish.
