The first date that naturally everyone expected was January 9th. But the problem with this date, even keeping the post production issues aside, is that soon after the weekend the film will have to see two pre holiday days where collections drop. We saw with Naayak how it dropped collections till festival began. Luckily for it, it was a regular commercial venture and its big competition didn’t prove to be a big threat locally. With Gopala Gopala the makers can’t take this chance as it isn’t a regular commercial pot-boiler, which means they have to postpone the release.
If they postpone they lose a lucrative day in overseas that has massive collections and also every day it gets delayed it gets closer to I which means it loses theaters further denting its collections. This is the twin dilemma the makers are faced with now and hence there is no clarity yet on the release date. They are simply waiting for the censor to get completed and then think and announce a right release date.
Which date according to you is the best one for the film? Do you think they should throw caution to air and just have a direct collision with another biggie I?
