Gopi Chand: Time For Some Strict Introspection

Gopichand emerged as a mass commercial hero with films like Ranam, Lakshyam, Shouryam, and Loukyam. But for the past few years, he has not delivered even one good successful film.

Films like Soukhyam, Pantham, Chanakya, Pakka Commercial, and now Rama Banam have brought down his credibility as a star. Only Seetimaarr turned out to be an average fare.

Gopichand is terribly going wrong with his poor choice of subjects. He still thinks mass-oriented or family-oriented scripts work as they used to a decade back. He has to change and adapt to the current trends. He has to come out of his comfort zone and try different genres.

Gopichand himself tried a ‘different’ project like Sahasam way back in 2013. The film might not have done well, but it is still remembered as a good film.

Gopichand has the talent and cutout to deliver exciting and entertaining films. He just has to choose scripts that are brave, exciting, and that cater to today’s audience which has evolved in a big way in the last few years.

If Gopichand continues to pick films like Ramabanam, then not only his box office value will erode but his satellite and digital markets will also come down drastically.
