Guntur Based Film out of Oscar, but There’s Still Hope

We all rejoiced that a film from South went to Oscars and it happens to be the story based in Guntur where Tamil migrants are arrested by police. Tamil movie ‘Visaranai‘ is selected as the official entry from India to contend for the Academy Awards.

But, the film is out of Oscars race. In the filtering process, nine films for the foreign film category were selected out of 85 official entries. Though ‘Visaranai’ couldn’t make to the final ‘nine’, there is still hope for India as music maestro AR Rahman is in the contenders’ list.

Rahman is competing in the music category with his work ‘Pele: Birth of a Legend’. He is presently on the list of original song category and original score category and waiting to see his name in the final category that would be announced on 24th January 2017. Millions of Indians are now waiting to see if Rahman makes to the final list.
