The main reason for that success was that the popular Hindu right-wing activists owned that film and promoted it on all of their social media handles. They immensely loved the fact that the film showcased Krishna as our history and not as mythology. The producers spent very less to promote the film in Hindi but the Hindu audience themselves promoted the film in a big way and made it a roaring success.
Now similar scenario can be seen for Prashanth Varma’s HanuMan. After the promo release, the same right-wing Hindu nationalists are making episode after episode on YouTube raving about the film, its visuals, and its taking. They are loving the way our favorite God, Lord Hanuman, has been presented.
The HanuMan producers shouldn’t make the mistake that Karthikeya 2 producers made and should start promoting the film in the Hindi Belt as well before the release. If all things go as per their expectations then HanuMan can turn out to be even bigger than Karthikeya 2.
On the other hand, the same Youtubers and social media influencers were ready to promote Adipurush in a huge way but they were so disappointed with the teaser that instead of promoting they started a protest to ban the film. A golden opportunity went down the drain.
