Salaar literally had zero promotions in Hindi except for the two trailers. But the film is holding its own in the Hindi belt despite the clash with SRK’s Dunki.
Salaar maintained a steady hold on Christmas day as it collected Rs 15 crores nett on its first Monday, which happened to be Christmas day. The total tally now stands at Rs 67 crore nett in the Hindi belt.
This is a good 5-day tally for the film. But the issue here is that the clash with a biggie like Dunki has slightly affected its prospects.
The comment from experts is that though Dunki is not a mass film or a direct competition to Salaar, the film is splitting the theatre-going audience. Else, Salaar would’ve had a better trend in the Hindi belt, it seems. But luckily for Salaar, it is holding very well in the mass circuits, which is contributing to the tally.
There are reports that Salaar could be touching the Rs 150 crore+ nett in its final run in the Hindi belt. For that to happen, the film will have to hold its ground in the second weekend, which is going to be the real challenge.
