Hit Film Taken Down From OTT, Telugu Remake On Cards?

Bollywood star Alia Bhatt recently scored a box office hit with Gangubai Kathiawadi. Coming to the point, in an interesting development, the Telugu dubbed version of Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai was taken down from Netflix the other day, just hours after its premiere. This has led to a series of speculations.

“I watched half of Gangubai’s Telugu version last night and by the time I checked back to watch the remaining portion, the film was taken down. What is Netflix trying to do? Is someone working on the Telugu remake of Gangubai?” a netizen commented.

While there might be a wild speculation that Gangubai might be remade in Telugu, it is a far-fetched prospect.

Firstly, Gangubai is based on a prostitute turned social reformer with the same name from Kamathipura, Mumbai. It is evidently a region-based film. So, there will be no emotional connect or nativity to the Telugu audience. So, the chances of the Telugu remake of Gangubai materializing are very weak. We can’t validate remake rumors just based on the fact that the Telugu dubbed version was taken down by Netflix.
