With the IPL nearing its climax and the “Tier-1” cupboard looking emptier than a bachelor’s fridge, the hype for Spider-Man: Brand New Day and the year-end Avengers: Doomsday is officially dwarfing anything Film Nagar has to offer.
The buzz for “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” (July 31st) and the year-end juggernauts like “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Dune 3” (both set for December 18th) currently dwarfs anything on the local horizon. In a state where a Marvel film now opens to “Tier-1 Hero” level madness, these Hollywood franchises are no longer just “English movies”, they are the primary events. They aren’t just filling a gap; they are colonizing a market that Tollywood has temporarily abandoned.
The reality is bleak. While Ram Charan’s “Peddi” is finally locked for June 4th, it leaves the entire month of May as a wasteland.
