Out of nowhere there is a sudden buzz on social media that Hrithik Roshan possibly playing Lord Shiva in SS Rajamouli’s biggest magnum opus Varanasi. This news has created a lot of excitement, but also confusion.
On one hand, fans are thrilled with the idea. Hrithik has the screen presence, physique, and acting range that would suit a divine role like Lord Shiva. Social media is already flooded with AI generated images imagining him in that avatar. Some fans even argue that if Rajamouli is considering him, there must be a strong creative vision behind it.
But on the other side, there are massive doubts. Many fans believe this is just a rumor with no solid confirmation. More importantly, from a practical filmmaking standpoint, casting someone like Hrithik in a film led by a big superstar like Mahesh Babu comes with undeniable risks.
Hrithik is a massive star with a kickass screen presence. If he appears in a powerful role like Lord Shiva, there is a real chance he could overshadow the main lead, even if it is a cameo or extended role. For a film of this scale, where Mahesh Babu is the central face, that imbalance could create issues, especially with fan expectations.
Rajamouli is known for being extremely calculated with casting. He understands star dynamics and audience psychology better than most. It is unlikely he would take a risk that could disturb the film’s core positioning or fan base. Also, after what happened between NTR and Ram Charan fans during RRR, he would stay away from casting two big stars in the same film again unless he has no other option.
So, for now, this remains an exciting but unverified rumor. Until there is an official confirmation, it is better to treat it as just a social media speculation rather than fact.
