Recently the Indian film industry has seen a rapid increase in the use of IMAX cameras to shoot cinema on IMAX.
This has also led to a tremendous increase in IMAX theatres, eager to cater to the demand surplus.
But this increase in theatres has not been proportional. While places like Delhi NCR have had multiple IMAX theatres of their own with more opening by the day, prominent cities like Hyderabad are still to get their first, despite being big Box Office centres.
This has been a matter of utmost frustration for the people of Hyderabad, who are forced to miss out on the IMAX versions of many popular Indian and Hollywood films.
They couldn’t even get the IMAX experience of ‘Kalki 2898 AD’, just because there are no screens to show it.
The Telugu Film Industry is rising rapidly, with films like RRR gaining global fame. Hence, we may see more and more Telugu films being shot in IMAX.
There is a huge possibility that SS Rajamouli’s SSMB29, featuring Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra will be filmed with the best IMAX gear.
In such a case, the people of Hyderabad desperately want at least one IMAX theatre to open in their city so that they get a chance to watch their own cinema in the format.
It will be interesting to see whether Hyderabad, the city with the most passionate movie lovers, can have its way of bringing IMAX to their city.
