Hyderabad is witnessing a premium multiplex boom, with several high-end cinemas set to open soon. ART Cinemas in Vanasthalipuram, a joint venture between Asian Cinemas and Ravi Teja, opens on July 31, 2025, with Vijay Deverakonda’s Kingdom. It will feature the massive EPIQ format.
AMB Cinemas in Kondapur, owned by Mahesh Babu and Namrata Shirodkar, is expanding too. A new screen with Barco HDR projection will debut in August 2025 with War 2, boosting its appeal in Hyderabad’s tech corridor.
In December 2025, PVR Inorbit Mall will launch a premium P[XL] screen in Cyberabad. Then, in January 2026, Allu Cinemas in Kokapet will introduce Hyderabad’s first Dolby Cinema. Backed by Allu Arjun, this format remains rare in India and is a major step for West Hyderabad.
But these upgrades are mostly focused on newer zones. Older cultural areas like Koti, Abids, Himayatnagar, and RTC X Roads are being ignored.
These historic neighborhoods still rely on outdated single screens or aging multiplexes. Despite long-standing demands, there’s still no new IMAX screen in the city either.
While Hyderabad’s cinema experience is evolving rapidly, the neglect of its core areas raises a serious concern: Is the heart of the city being left behind?
