I Am Not a Cheater – Amala Paul

Actress Amala Paul was recently the object of a tax evasion rumour and has since come forward to clarify the issue. The south Indian actress of ‘Neelathamara’ fame had purchased a Rs. 1.2 crore Mercedes Benz registered in Puducherry and was accused of evading tax that would have applied to the car.

Apparently, the actress had given a single room flat as the address on the official papers of the car and registered it in Pondicherry, a union territory. The question about her dodging taxes came up when the building owner failed to show the contract for the flat which the actress had claimed to have had for the past year.

But as of recently, all these tax evasion accusations have been slammed as nothing but a rumour by the actress. The actress has stated that she never evaded tax and said that “I have a property in Pondicherry and paid tax for my car so how it becomes tax evasion? You can call me smart and not fraud” Even the Pondicherry Government has confirmed there was nothing unlawful in registering in the Union Territory.
