‘If a director insists you lift a song, you can’t help it’

There are a lot of plagiarism charges on present day music directors. Many top MDs delivered copied tunes from other sources. MD Gopi Sundar who had two back to back hits in Telugu in the recent times in the form of ‘Bhale Bhale Magadivoy’ and ‘Oopiri’ also accepts to have copied tunes.

But he doesn’t do that intentionally because no music director would survive long only with copied tunes and lifted music. Whenever he copies something, it’s only because of the insistence of director and the producer of the movie.

The music director feels that it is good to tell the audiences openly if a music director got inspired by some other song and used it. This openness is going to save the music director from the embarrassment. It’s not just Gopi Sundar, all the top music directors in South have faced copy allegations several times.
