If Not Prabhas, Who Is The Real Kalki?

Deepika Padukone’s role is extremely crucial in the upcoming mythological sci-fi film, Kalki 2898 AD. Although she’s the leading lady, her exact role remains a mystery.

Following the trailer’s release, speculation about her character has surged online. Many social media users have shared their theories, debating whether Deepika will play Padma or Kalki’s mother.

The film starts in the Mahabharat era and extends to 2898 AD, based on the Hindu belief of Kali Yug. It features Prabhas as Bhairava, Amitabh Bachchan as the immortal Ashwatthama, and Kamal Haasan plays the lead antagonist.

One popular theory suggests Deepika is playing Sumati, Kalki’s mother. Fans point to a scene where Ashwatthama mentions she is carrying a divine child, and a bounty notification names her as SUM-80, hinting at Sumati. This theory suggests Prabhas is not Kalki but might play dual roles as Bhairava and Kalki.

However, other fans argue that Deepika’s character is named Padma, as shown in the official poster. They believe trailer scenes are spliced together to mislead viewers.

Another theory posits that Bhairava is a mentor to Kalki, aligning with Vishnu’s avatars’ connection to Shiva.

While these discussions are purely speculative, they help create intrigue, excitement, and hype for the film. The actual plot remains a mystery. Kalki 2898 AD is set to release on June 27, 2024.
