Indian 2 – Shankar Avoids A. R. Rahman

AR Rahman has been like the official music composer for Shankar’s films except for a couple of his recent films for which Shankar worked with Harris Jayaraj. Coming to Shankar’s next movie ‘Indian 2’, AR Rahman will not be scoring the music for the prestigious project and this time the young talent, Anirudh Ravichander will be taking over the reins.

The first version of the sequel, ‘Indian’ has AR Rahman scoring the music and the audio was a huge hit back then. But, AR Rahman hasn’t been delivering any chartbuster music, of late but his background score works very well, mostly. He was heavily criticized for his disappointing audio, lately. It’s a big surprise that he chose a young music composer Anirudh Ravichander for the sequel.

It must be a proud moment for the young composer as he is also known for his terrific background score. For Shankar‘s social issue based movies, the audio becomes a very crucial part and we have seen that all his social-issue based movies have chartbuster music along with a tight screenplay and solid story. Maybe, he chose wisely when he didn’t go for AR Rahman and lay the responsibility on the young music director.
