India’s Anti-Piracy App – But Will It Even Work?

The WAVE Summit is going on and there will be many resolutions regarding the betterment of the film industry.

And as per reports, there will be a new anti-piracy app soon and it is going to be launched at the summit.

There have been many efforts of stopping piracy in India and abroad but none of them have been very successful till date. The issue of piracy is indeed a big one and films being leaked even before release is a huge problem in the industry.

But how will this app work? There is no news regarding that yet. People will not be downloading an anti-piracy app willingly. And it is not clear how an app can prevent movies from being leaked.

It is possible that all this is just a hoax and nothing is really going to happen. But if the government manages to pull this off, it will be a profitable feat for the industry.

Piracy affects the OTT platforms a lot but it is more problematic when a movie is made available online even before its theatrical release, like it happened with Sikandar, Thandel etc.
