Is Gang Leader Going Jersey Way?

Gang Leader is the new film from Natural Star Nani. It is his first-time collaboration with critically acclaimed director Vikram K Kumar. In a way, he is working with a prominent director after a long gap. The subject is very unique and different from his last outing, Jersey? Yet, one gets a feeling that Gang Leader is going the Jersey way. Here’s why?

There are two ways (and zones) to look at it. The first one is the very classy vibe that one is getting with the product. We know there is a revenge angle and there are a couple of mass songs as well. On top of these, there is a villain in the form of Karthikeya. Still, Gang Leader lacks the mass touch to separate if from Jersey concerning the feel.

Usually, any comparison with Jersey would not be a problem. But, when we talk about Jersey, the overwhelming impression of an underperformer registers in the mind. It is in that aspect one evokes Jersey here.

Now, let’s look at the second way. Jersey was hugely appreciated critically. Almost everyone who has seen the movie praised it. If Gang Leader were to repeat the same feat, it would easily be a much bigger success. The reason is, again, the same that is mentioned above. It is a different subject with comedy and some mass hooks. If it gets a similar appreciation, it is sure to be a blockbuster.

Right now, based on the buzz, Gang Leader is in the first zone. We have to see if the perception and expectations change in the last few days.
