Recently the Spy team interacted with local media for a Q&A session. One of the journos asked Nikhil if he was consciously doing a particular kind of films that pleases a specific political party or a section of the audience.
Nikhil gave a strong counter to that journalist and gave clarification, “I am making films as an Indian. Don’t affiliate me with any party which seems to be your agenda. I will continue making films which i like.”
Nikhil’s last film, Karthikeya 2, was a big hit even in the North. The theme of the film was patronized by a chunk of the audience that believes in right-wing ideology. Now SPY is also based on research done by the likes of Anuj Dhar, who is a well-known Gandhi and Nehru basher. Most of his works glorify right-wing ideologies, and he is famous for his books like India’s Biggest Coverup and Back From The Dead.
After the teaser release, the film is already being promoted by some right-wing YouTubers. If the content gets clicked, then Nikhil might see another big success in the Hindi belt.
