In the recent past, Allari Naresh said that since his comedy movies were not working he shifted to serious content-based movies like Naandhi and Itlu Maredumilli Prajaneekam. But Naresh must realize that it’s not about comedy or serious subjects, it’s about how well your film can engage and connect with the audience.
In Naandhi, people got immersed in the story as they could relate to the story, its protagonist, and his emotions and the film became a hit. While in Itlu Maredumilli Prajaneekam, the intent to make a good film is there but the film couldn’t connect with the majority of the audience because of the lack of emotional depth.
Itlu Maredumilli Prajaneekam is still a well-intended film about tribal struggles but people nowadays want something more engaging serious drama to drag them to theaters.
The buzz around the film before the release was missing and even after the release, it couldn’t create much noise as the word-of-mouth was just okay.
So the makers must realize that only intent can’t make a hit film, the story should have enough depth to hook and book the viewers to their seats for 2 hours.
