The shooting of Jailer 2, starring Rajinikanth and directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, is nearing completion. The makers are reportedly planning a worldwide theatrical release in July.
Earlier, strong rumours suggested that Shah Rukh Khan would appear in a cameo role. Mithun Chakraborty had also indicated in an interview that both he and Shah Rukh Khan might be part of the film.
However, recent reports suggest a different development. Shah Rukh Khan is said to have opted out of the project. This decision is reportedly linked to his intention to keep his look from King undisclosed before its release.
There are also reports of scheduling conflicts with the film’s planned July release. Due to these reasons, the team is now looking for another actor from a different industry. The cameo role initially planned for Shah Rukh Khan remains open.
Amid this situation, speculation has emerged that Pawan Kalyan could replace him. Reports suggest that filming for his portion may begin soon, though there is no official confirmation yet.
The speculation has triggered mixed reactions among fans. Some believe Pawan Kalyan would be a strong addition to the film. Others feel he may not match Shah Rukh Khan’s pan Indian reach.
There are also discussions about his recent box office performance. His film Ustaad Bhagat Singh did not perform well commercially. As the makers aim for a ₹1000 crore milestone, some fans suggest considering actors like Yash or Hrithik Roshan.
Meanwhile, social media reports claim that Pawan Kalyan may have declined the offer. There are also rumours that Nandamuri Balakrishna was approached but is not part of the film. These claims remain unverified.
As of now, there is no official clarity on the cameo casting. It remains to be seen whether the team can finalise a suitable replacement. The final decision could play a key role in achieving the ambitious ₹1000 crore target.
