Jana Nayagan Case: No Relief, Court Rejects Bail Plea

The Madras High Court has denied anticipatory bail in the Jana Nayagan leak case. The decision comes amid growing concern in the Kollywood industry.

A few weeks ago, Vijay’s film Jana Nayagan, directed by H. Vinoth, was leaked online. The incident shocked the film industry.

Following the leak, KVN Productions filed a legal complaint. Police then began an investigation and arrested three individuals, including a freelance editor.

An FIR was registered against the accused. Later, one of the suspects, Uma Shankar, approached the court seeking anticipatory bail.

He claimed he had no connection with the leak. He also stated that he works as a purchase manager at a textile showroom.

However, KVN Productions opposed his plea. The production house submitted a counter argument before the court.

They alleged that the freelance editor, who is said to be his friend, shared a copy of the film with him. They claimed that Uma Shankar then leaked it online.

The makers argued that the film was made on a massive budget of ₹500 crores. They said such a serious offence should not be treated lightly.

After hearing both sides, the court rejected the anticipatory bail plea. The judge did not grant relief to the accused.
