Janhvi Kapoor’s Alcohol Addiction: My Life’s Biggest Villain

Janhvi Kapoor has made a candid and deeply personal revelation about her past, opening up about her struggle with alcohol addiction and the difficult journey she went through to overcome it. Speaking at a recent awareness event organized by a social initiative, she addressed the issue directly, without softening her experience.

She emphasized that people battling addiction should not be treated like criminals. According to her, substance abuse is a mental health issue rather than a moral failure. She explained that stress, anxiety, and emotional pressure often push individuals toward such habits, and society’s tendency to isolate them only makes the situation worse. Instead, she urged people to respond with empathy and support, which she believes plays a crucial role in recovery.

Reflecting on her own experience, Janhvi admitted that what began as casual drinking gradually turned into a serious dependency. She described alcohol as a “villain” in her life that quietly took control without her realizing it. The turning point came when she began waking up every morning with severe hangovers and developed a strong aversion even to the smell of alcohol. That phase forced her to confront the reality of her situation.

She went on to explain that addiction feels like living with an unfamiliar presence that constantly influences behavior and relationships. It made her more guarded around friends and family, and only after fully recognizing the damage it was causing, she took conscious steps to break free. Her comments underline the psychological grip addiction can have, and the sustained effort required to overcome it.

On the professional front, Janhvi Kapoor will be next seen opposite Ram Charan in Peddi, directed by Buchi Babu Sana.
