Jayalalitha’s case: AR Rahman’s statement turns crucial

It was the month of September in 1995 when Puratchi Thalaivi was in office as the State’s CM for the first time. Jayalalitha planned her foster son Sudhakaran’s (later disowned) wedding in never before grandeur and extravaganza. There had been wealth laundering everywhere visibly for lavish arrangements and decorations. Maestro AR Rahman, Child prodigy Mandolin Srinivas and others performed at the wedding to entertain the invitees.

This same fact became one of the witness statement for the judge to record against Jayalalitha in the pocession of inappropriate assets case. AR Rahman was one of the key witnesses who accepted that he has performed at the event for free and received invitation in silk and gold. In this case, Mandolin Srinivas’ (who passed away recently) statement also was taken into account alongwith Rahman’s. During Jaya’s tenure between 1991-1996, money flowed into her various accounts from various sources for which there had been no proper explanations from whosoever concerned.
