A recent Instagram story by Filmfare editor Jitesh Pillai has triggered a wave of trolling on social media. The controversy erupted just days after the high-profile wedding of Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna, the couple popularly called Virosh by fans.
Recently Jitesh Pillai posted an Instagram story that read: “Nothing about this wedding was private… but congratulations to the couple. Once in showbiz, the camera is always on.”
The remark sounded playful on the surface but carried a sarcastic tone. His comment suggested that despite claims of keeping the ceremony private, celebrity weddings inevitably become public events. While this observation reflects a common reality in showbiz, similar to what happened during the wedding of Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma in 2017, the timing and tone of Pillai’s remark did not go down well with many fans.
Soon after, a tweet trolling Jitesh Pillai began circulating widely on X. The post questioned why he singled out the Virosh wedding when many Bollywood celebrities follow the same private but public approach. The tweet sarcastically asked whether Pillai’s comment came from not being invited to the wedding or from bitterness disguised as wit. It even mocked him by asking when the editor of Filmfare decided that sounding like a gossip aunty was part of the job.
Jitesh Pillai’s remark, though factually pointing out the nature of celebrity life, came across as unnecessary sarcasm to many. Jitesh Pillai’s Insta story soon turned into another debate about celebrity privacy, media commentary, and the power of fan reactions in the social media era.
