NTR Does Something Even Prabhas Couldn’t!

Prabhas is undoubtedly the biggest star in the Telugu industry by miles, and today, it’s the dream of every other Tier-1 star hero to reach his level.

However, all of Prabhas’s movies have faced a common issue: none of them have broken even for buyers in all regions of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Simply put, none of his films have achieved a 100% break-even in both Telugu states since Baahubali 2, even though they have delivered impressive overall numbers.

Not just Prabhas—Tier-2 hero Nani, who has consistently delivered minimum guarantee films, has faced similar problem. His films also do not break even in all regions of the Telugu states, despite appearing successful overall.

There have been discussions in trade about whether films in the Telangana dialect underperform in Andhra, and vice versa or the genre is the culprit here.

However, the current discussion in trade revolves around Devara, which has broken even for all buyers in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. It is the only recent release that has made all Telugu buyers profitable.

This could be attributed to the genre; while Devara has a simple and routine story, mounting it on a big scale has enhanced its visual appeal and resonated with audiences across regions.

Next in line, Pushpa 2 should aim to repeat this success in all regions of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, as its subject has widespread appeal. The same goes for Ram Charan’s Game Changer if it delivers.

Let’s see who will continue the trend that Devara has reintroduced into the trade.
