Kabali Run Time Trimmed Heavily

Many of the big films in the recent past had gone through lengthy run time issues and had to trim the length after the film’s release. The original script of the film written by Pa Ranjith for ‘Kabali’ was 4 hours long when narrated to editor Praveen.

The 4 hours length was due to the detailing of director Pa Ranjith. The editor says that his director has done a lot of research on the life of Tamil settlers in Malaysia and hence brought out many subplots in the script. However, everything couldn’t be retained in the film and hence they had to chop off some portions from the script.

Finally, ‘Kabali’ was cut short to 150 minutes run time which is apt for a film in which there is a superstar. Editor Praveen compares ‘Kabli’ with Rajinikanth’s earlier gangster film ‘Baasha’ and ‘Dalapathy’. Only for day left for release, every movie buff is waiting to see if ‘Kabali’ can repeat the magic of ‘Baasha’.
