Kalki 50 Days To Go: Where’s The Hype?

Kalki 2898 AD is the biggest film to be coming out from India starring Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone, and Disha Patani.

The film is produced by the prestigious Vyjayanthi Movies and directed by Nag Ashwin. The film is a sci-fi dystopian futuristic action thriller based on Indian mythology. It can’t get bigger than this.

The film is releasing on 27th June and there are just 50 more days left for its release.

But the hype for the film is nowhere it should have ideally been. This project deserves a lot more excitement than it is having right now.

The promotional campaign hasn’t been too great till now. The teaser was okay, Amitabh’s character intro was good, and then came the bad IPL promotional video.

The makers need to amp up the promotions. It is a huge film and the break-even target almost touches the sky. Unless the film opens to an earth-shattering response and maintains its momentum for 3-4 weeks, break even is tough.

Also, the film needs to do well in all 5 languages and not just in Telugu. Mainly the film has to exploit the Hindi market to its fullest to become a safe film.

The minimum expectation for this film is to be a 1000-crore grosser worldwide but as of now, the film is looking to fall short of that magical number because of low hype.

Prabhas’ look as Bhairava needs to click with the audience in the promotional material, the songs should be great enough to add hype to the film, and the makers need to pull off something extraordinary to build buzz around the film.

Let’s hope once the election fever settles down, Kalki 2898 AD gets a huge boost in terms of hype and excitement.
