Kalki 2 Targets Dec 2027…But Challenges Are Massive!

One of the most awaited projects in Prabhas’s lineup is undoubtedly Kalki 2898 AD Part 2, directed by Nag Ashwin. The first film turned into a massive pan-India blockbuster and reportedly crossed Rs. 1000 crore worldwide, creating huge anticipation for the sequel.

The shoot for the second part had already begun earlier, and fresh reports now suggest the makers are considering a release around December 2027. While there is still no official confirmation, the timeline is reportedly being seriously discussed.

Industry insiders say one major advantage for the sequel is that much of the planning and pre-production work was reportedly completed during the making of the first film itself. Because of that, Kalki Part 2 may not require the same lengthy preparation phase usually associated with projects of this scale.

According to reports, a large portion of the technical planning, story structure, and visual groundwork had already been finalized earlier. The main challenge now is said to be completing the remaining shoot and coordinating the schedules of the lead cast. Reports also suggest the sequel includes several important scenes featuring Prabhas alongside Amitabh Bachchan, Sai Pallavi, and Kamal Haasan. Coordinating dates for such a large cast is reportedly one of the biggest reasons the production schedule remains challenging.

The final release timeline will largely depend on the actors’ availability. If schedules align smoothly and production continues without major delays, insiders believe a late 2027 release remains possible. Reportedly, more than 50% of the filming has already been completed as of now. Since it is a CGI-based film with a lot of visual effects, a significant amount of time will also be spent on the VFX work, which the makers cannot afford to get wrong.

At present, Prabhas is reportedly on an overseas trip. After returning, he is expected to begin work on Spirit, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Once that schedule is completed, he is likely to resume shooting for Kalki 2898 AD Part 2.
