Chevalier, one among the three, Ordre Des Arts Et Des Lettres, awards given by the French Government has been bestowed upon him. This is a huge honor for Kamal Haasan because, only one other Indian has won this award and it is none other than the guru-like figure for the actor, Sivaji Ganesan. He has been conferred with the award in 1995.
