Kamal Haasan’s loss is Rajini’s daughter gain

Kamal Haasan Uttama Villain and Rajinikanth’s daughter Aishwarya-directed Vai Raj Vai were scheduled to release together yesterday but due to some financial problems between the producers and financiers, Kamal’s film couldn’t release country wide. This gave Aishwarya a big opportunity to cash in on the disappointment of Kamal fans who wanted to watch Uttama Villain.

According to trade sources, if Uttama Villain had released on time without any hassles, it would’ve easily raked in over INR 10 crore on first day in Tamil Nadu. Since it didn’t release, thousands of people who had gone to cinemas ended up watching Vai Raja Vai, which has collected over INR 3.5 crore on Friday. Luckily, Vai Raja Vai didn’t turn out to be good because otherwise Kamal’s film would’ve affected very badly.

It has to be seen if Kamal’s film can still manage to make it count at the box-office against a small-budget film like Vai Raja Vai, which was apparently made on INR 10 crore.
