Earlier Karnataka High Court refused the bail plea of convicted AIADMK leader Jayalalitha and continued to keep her in Parappanna Agrahara Central Prison. Since September 27 after she has been convicted by speical court and sentenced to 4 years of Jail, Jayalalitha has been kept in the same jail in Karnataka. But this is costing too much for the government of Karnataka because of the ongoing protests outside the jail and the disruptions caused by her supporters. Severe law and order problems are posing challenge to the Karnataka governement.
Hence the Karnataka governement is eager to send Jayalalitha to another jail in Tamil Nadu and get rid of the problems the K government is facing. But Karnataka government wants Tamil Nadu government to approach either High Court or Supreme Court for the necessary proceedings. It insists that the proposal should come from the Tamil Nadu governement. Meanwhile, Supreme Court agreed to take up the bail plea petition of Jayalalitha on 17th October. Jaya has engaged Fali Nariman as her counsel to take up her bail plea before Supreme Court rather Ram Jethalmani who lost her bail plea in Karnataka High Court.
