Remember young Swetha Basu from ‘Kotha Bangaru Lokam’. The pretty Bengali actress who also went on to do a few more Telugu films was absent from the industry for a while. She’s now making a comeback as a filmmaker for a documentary on traditional Hindustani classical music.
Swetha said that to encourage Indian youth to have a fascination for Indian classic music and also respect it, she decided to make this documentary. She said she has been associated with arts for a long time and is also a trained Sitar player. Her documentary, titled Roots, will focus on the visibility of traditional Hindustani classical music in India.
She says it was because of this documentary, for which spent three years, she couldn’t sign any new projects. The documentary also features insights from renowned Indian musicians such as A.R Rahman, Gulzar, Vishal Bharadwaj and many more.
