Known Enemy Comes To Haunt Film Industry In Another Way

Cinema Industry has been struggling for years with the menace of Piracy. Despite several measures of the Governments, piracy still thrives in the country and it is very little we can do about it. Now, the menace has become a headache for the OTT platforms.

The OTT platforms are investing huge money to acquire content. They are even making special content like movies and web series for their subscribes. But within minutes of releasing them, they are being made available on the Piracy Sites.

“This would make content acquiring untenable for OTT platforms and they would very soon lower the prices. Some of the content is available Overseas but not in India and Vice-versa for various reasons. But even such content is being leaked online posing more challenges to the filmmakers and as well as the OTT platforms,” a source in the industry say.

Filmmakers are hoping that international giants like Amazon and Netflix would do something about it after all their efforts failed. But then, Piracy is a menace for Hollywood as well. And so-called International giants could do nothing about it.
